The Google Chance
No, not the Google dance!
Does Google give new sites a chance to prove themselves? This isn’t based on any tests I have done but observations of newly created sites. Every site I create seems to drop down the search results quite a lot within a few weeks.
We’ve all heard about the sandbox and filtering but I try to think about everything from their perspective. For instance presuming I owned a search engine and I reall did want relevant high quality sites to get the best results then what would I do with new sites? If I used some kind of filtering or put everything immediately into the sandbox then what happens to those sites that really are great websites? How do they get any chance to prove themselves?
With the way Google has gone recently it is making this challenge almost impossible. Penalised if you link too fast, link too slow, link to the wrong places etc.. This kind of system has made it virtually impossible to get exposure in the first place so you’ll never get out of the so called sandbox.
It’s very easy to say all new sites must go through a probabtion period but lets face it, if you were a search engine then what’s that going to prove, if you think about it hard enough it will prove nothing. The guilty until proven innocent system can’t really work effectively. If however you can enter the system as neither guilty nor innocent put let’s say under the microscope until we have decided, this would make more sense. From my observations so far, this is seems to be a more sensible approach and one that’s looking more likely as my tests continue. I may disagree with this as time goes on but right now i’m building new sites from this perspective and it seems to be paying off, so far at least.
